Associated Laboratories

Associated Laboratories are R&D institutions or consortia of institutions whose mission is to respond to the challenges posed by national scientific and technology policy.

According to the Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), associated laboratories must ensure: the response to public policies, the promotion of scientific careers, the ability to attract talent and financing from the European Union or other international entities for activities of R&D in Portugal.

FCT is responsible for conducting the process of evaluating proposals for the creation and renewal of Associated Laboratories, as well as for monitoring them.
